wildlifE & KOalas
Native wildlife was once abundant in Northern New South Wales. However, populations have been ravaged by land clearing, bushfires and floods. Recent studies have shown that 80 per cent of koalas have died between the coastal area between Coffs Harbour and the Queensland border. A well- funded and well organised planting program is crucial for their survival, as is the immediate cessation of land clearing. Patch’s is currently working on planting habitat for the wild population of koalas that is found in the fringes of the sanctuary.
