cows at patch’s

Cows are gentle, intelligent and peaceful animals. Like most of us, they just want their friends and family, some food and water and to be comfortable. Unfortunately few cows get to live their lives in a way they would like to.

At Patch’s all species are given the opportunity to live comfortable, harmonious lives.

There are numerous tales about our cows and how they came into our care. Patch’s currently has 22 cows in residence. While their diet usually consists of grass, dry winters require extra feed in the way of hay and other supplements. They also require drenching and treatment for external pests such as ticks. The maintenance of fencing is also a crucial part of their well-being and safety.

“Cows are gentle animals who are affectionate, emotional and intelligent. Mahatma Gandhi described a cow as ‘a poem of compassion.’ ”
